Hello! We had our first official YA Chapter session this Monday as an introduction for our 3 new Y5 YAs. Here's to more fulfilling YA adventures and learning moments in a challenging 2018:))))Below are some pictures:

12 January - CCA Orientation

Hello! The Dunman High Uniform Group Family had their combined CCA exhibition last Friday. I'm pretty sure I can speak for all my fellow YA members when I claim that it hasn't exactly been a smooth-sailing Orientation Preparation period. Fortunately, we were able to overcome all odds and pull it off in the end! This Orientation has certainly been full of surprising learning moments and we hope that the juniors have gained much from their leadership positions in the OP! Needless to say, there is much room for improvement and we'll continue working towards making Orientation better every year!

With all that aside, below are some pictures of CCA Orientation!

23 December 2017 - Hiking @ Punggol Waterway

As part of the NYAA award sports segment, we decided to use hiking! Today, we had a relaxing (though in the blistering heat) afternoon hike at Punggol waterway which was a great leisure activity for us before school reopens. Despite it being merely a simple hike in a well-known neighbourhood area, it is only through the intentional hiking that we come to appreciate and have the time to enjoy the beauty and cleanliness of our green park and environment. We were able to cover a substantial amount of distance and spot numerous landmarks along the way before calling it a day. Below is a reflection from a fellow Young Adult member:

Although a large majority of the people will go to coney island to trek or see nature, we decide to go to this place to find out more. It was a meaningful experience as not only we get to see the beautiful scenery, but we are also able to bond as a cca. Not only that, along the way of the trail, there were information boards, telling us about the history of punggol waterway. Even though information boards may be common in most trekking sites, we were unexpected to see that punggol waterway has its own history.

Along the way, we also saw a bridge that looked like the bridge from the treetop walk which also amazed us.

However, after trekking for about 1h 30 mins, we were all out of stamina and sweating profusely. As such, we decided to turn back to and stopped trekking

Although we did not reach our targeted distance, I feel that through this trekking in punggol waterway, we had gained many insights. For example, i have learnt that trekking requires a lot of determination and physical strength and it is not as easy as what i had thought it would be. I have also gained several knowledge and bond better with my batch mates.
